I began looking at posters for the V&A museum exhibitions as I love all of them and love their simple but high impact designs. From this I decided that I wanted to include extremely minimal colours and potentially black and white. The V&A had some really good examples of black and white posters with coloured logos and photography so this is where I decided to go.
I found some pictures I had previously taken that fitted in with ‘texture and pattern’ and paired them with my logo to see what one looked the strongest.
When presenting these designs the 3 square logo was the one that got the best feedback and I believe this is down to the juxtaposition of the soft shapes and the solid squares. I also thought this so I put it on a different more ‘pattern’ related picture.
I don’t think this one works as well as I think thats down to a few things that were also brought up in the feedback session. It is shot in a different depth of field and doesn’t look very similar too the first one so they don’t look like a pair. I am definitely going to take more pictures to fit in with the style as i think it could be really effective.
One of the things suggested in the the feedback session was incorperating the simple stand alone rectangles as different areas of the museum. I may work on this further to develop a whole visual identity more.
